Birthday Cake

Well, the Summer of Color: Ice Cream Inspirations is over, BUT I really loved making paintings based on ice cream flavours. . . So I just had to continue making these fun creations, especially considering that it is still summer!

Birthday Cake

This is the inspiration, and what follows is the result…

Sprinkle

Sprinkle’s friends help her get ready for the celebration.

My first colour choice was birthday cake, and I love Sprinkle’s vanilla ice cream coloured hair.

I am not sure what flavour will be next, perhaps my current favourite flavour – chocolate peanut butter, or maybe my child-hood favourite flavour – tiger tail.

Mint Chocolate Chip

Week 2 of Summer of Color: Ice Cream Inspirations!

When I first saw this Minty Chocolate Ice Cream Cone, I immediately imagined something under the sea.  I saw a lovely mermaid with chocolate brown tresses in the blue-green water.  I have not drawn a mermaid before, but I had to try because that is really what the colours inspired.  So here she is…Meet Cocoa the Mermaid, from the Minty Lagoon.

Cocoa, from Minty Lagoon

I have created her using Ranger Dabber paints, Derwent inktense pencils, gesso, bubble wrap, and Galaxy Marker.

Rainbow Sherbert

I have joined my first challenge – Summer of Color 2 : Ice Cream Inspirations!

So to play along with the blog hopping (not that I have much to offer), I thought I would resurrect this old blog!

The Sherbert Sisters

The girls are done with Derwent Inktense Pencils, Ranger Dabbers, magazine and scrapbook papers, markers and paint pens.
