Birthday Cake

Well, the Summer of Color: Ice Cream Inspirations is over, BUT I really loved making paintings based on ice cream flavours. . . So I just had to continue making these fun creations, especially considering that it is still summer!

Birthday Cake

This is the inspiration, and what follows is the result…

Sprinkle’s friends help her get ready for the celebration.

My first colour choice was birthday cake, and I love Sprinkle’s vanilla ice cream coloured hair.

I am not sure what flavour will be next, perhaps my current favourite flavour – chocolate peanut butter, or maybe my child-hood favourite flavour – tiger tail.

Watermelon Ice

Week 6 of the Summer of Color 2: Ice Cream Inspirations!

Watermelon Ice

This bright red was so surprising, and so fun.  When I looked at this ice cream flavour, and thought about it – a red hat came into my imagination.  So here is the hat, and more…

A summertime wish: a tryst with Eloni, the gnome.

I would like to thank Kristin at Twinkle, Twinkle for organizing this deliciously fun blog event!!  It has been so wonderful looking at all the different interpretations of the ice cream flavours.  It has been so much fun, that I am going to continue for the rest of the summer!!  Buying ice cream at the cottage this week made me look at all the flavours under the glass in a different way, and there are just so many more colour options, so I just have to keep going!!

Thanks for all the inspiration, everyone – and all the kind words!!

Wild ‘N Reckless Sherbert

Week 5 of Summer of Color 2: Ice Cream Inspirations!

Wild ‘N Reckless Sherbert

“A green apple, blue raspberry, and fruit punch flavored sherbet party.
Fruit has never had so much fun.”
– Baskin Robbins
I was inspired with a feeling of letting go with this ice cream, so here is the result!

Apple…letting go…

The caption says: “With reckless abandon, Apple sent her dreams flying.  She hoped that in letting go, her imagination could sprout new dreams.”

With hope…the dreams are set free…

Strawberry Lemonade Punch

Week 4 of Summer of Color 2: Ice Cream Inspirations!

Strawberry Lemonade Punch

The ice cream flavour this week looks so sweet and soft, with a touch of tang or mystery.  I immediately saw trees of pink and yellow, and had to wait and see what else emerged after the trees were in place.

Mona knew the secrets of Pop Forest.

What emerged was Mona running through the forest with her special treat trying to catch the carousel horses that live in Pop Forest.  (The words at the top of the page say: If you can catch the magical carousel horses, you may go for a ride.)
